Return on Intelligence

Classic ROI (Return on Investment) answers a single question: ‘How much money did we make for every euro invested?’ It is a necessary metric, yet an insufficient one for a company that wants to scale sustainably. Return on Intelligence answers another: ‘Has your organisation become more intelligent, or simply larger?’

Intelligence as a structural asset

An organisation grows in size naturally when the market is buoyant. It grows in intelligence only through architectural design. Return on Intelligence measures the system’s capacity to make better decisions, faster and with fewer people involved.

If you have doubled the team and decision speed has halved, Return on Intelligence is negative, whatever this month’s accounting profit says. A positive Return on Intelligence requires decision speed to rise as the team grows.
